Today the Swan and Penguin Classes went on a very special visit to a local wood which is owned by Mr Fleetwood, who is a tree warden. The children were very excited to discover a tree that was over 200 years old and younger trees that were only as tall as them. The children were fascinated to hear about the hibernating hedgehogs and grass snakes that inhabit his garden. They asked lots of interesting questions that reflected their curiosity and interest in the natural world.
“How deep do the roots grow?”
” What is this plant with dotty leaves?”
” Where do the foxes live?”
” Who planted the first tree?”
Thank you to all of the parents who were able to support us on this trip and a very special thank you to Mr Fleetwood who has taught us so much!
