We are so proud of the 40 children who took part in the Quadkids Athletics competitions at the U.E.A. Sportspark today. This involved each child running a 60m sprint, throwing a vortex, performing 3 standing long jumps and finally a 400m race. They will definitely sleep tonight!
It was quite a challenge which the children embraced as enthusiastically as ever. Thank you to all members of staff and parents who helped especially Mrs Dye who stayed for the whole day. It was great to see such proud parents and children as they pushed themselves to their limits.
Afterwards we explored the Sportspark looking at all of its facilities including the climbing wall, swimming pool, archery, basketball, the gym and gymnastics. Lots of children picked up a leaflet for Sportscamps over Easter. Three children will be training tonight with City of Norwich Athletics Club (CONAC). Please look at their website for further details under Track and Field. You do need to be 8 or above to join. At the moment there is a free month’s trial for children to have a try first.
Lastly one of our Year 4 girls received a special award from Isla McFadden, our areas sports coordinator, for Norwich East. This was for outstanding sportsmanship towards sport. She was a reserve but cheered and supported her team members at Holkham Hall cross country final.
Sport teaches us so many lessons in life and it was definitely a day that we will not forget.
