We had lots of hands on, real learning opportunities. We visited our school pond and the local garden centre. We even incubated eggs and hatched chicks in the classroom.

Penguin Class visit Africa Alive

We had an exciting day at the zoo. As part of our topic on “Journeys” we travelled to Kessinglnad and explored African animals and their habitats. We even had the chance to touch a desert mouse, tortoise and a snake!

Light and Dark Topic

After reading “The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark”, we had the exciting opportunity to meet two owls in our classroom. We asked lots of interesting questions and it is certainly a visit we will not forget!!

The Lighthouse Keeper, Mr Grinling, visited the Penguin Class and asked us to solve his problem. We soon helped and got his lighthouse working again. We enjoyed creating a modroc lighthouse and learning how to create an electrical circuit. We look forward to his next visit…

Light & Dark Topic

As part of our topic on Light and Dark the Penguin Class have been learning to paint in the style of Van Gogh. We enjoyed colour mixing and learning a new swirling technique whilst recreating “Starry Night”.
