Little Red Robin Hood

The puppets dressed up as characters from Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood and it all got mixed up. Little Red Robin Hood got eaten by a fox, and the mum was the only one who didn’t get eaten and knocked the fox out! We would give this show a five star rating.

French Exchange

The other day, Puffins and Swans exchanged teachers. Miss Peers taught sketchbook skills to the Y5 class, and Madame Sutton taught French to the Y2/3s. She arrived with Madame D’Orange and friends. Madame Sutton read the French version of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and taught basic phrases, colours and numbers. The Puffins had a fantastic time and want them all to pay another visit soon!

Jonah Assembly

On friday 26th February, Puffin Class did an amazing assembly about Jonah and the Whale and all of the parents came to watch our assembly. And guess what? great news! They said it was very good. And in our class, Alistair was Jonah and he was a very good actor. Also we did a Mexican wave with ribbons.

Mountain Adventures

We are learning all about Mountain Adventures this term in Puffin Class. Mr Dooley came to talk to us about his own mountain adventures.

“On Friday 22nd January, Mr Dooley came to visit. He had his rope and pick-axe and hard helmet. He said that they all took turns driving to three different mountains. And do you know what his challenge was called? It was claaed the Three Peaks Challenge. My favourite thing was the hard helmet.”

“Mr Dooley brought some very special mountain equipment in like a rope and a helmet with a light on it to make him see in the dark. He made the three Peaks Challenge in 22 hours. He had to do it in 24 hours!!”

We’re Turning Japanese

The Puffins are learning all about the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. They have been studying the colours that he used in his famous wood block prints and are making their own whale seascapes based on his work.

Globe Theatre Burns!

On June 29th, 1613, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre was set alight accidentally by a cannon spark. Richard Burbage (the theatre owner at the time) came to explain the whole story in full. A procession started the re-enactment off, then the Globe, beautifully hand-crafted by pupils in Y3/4, met its sad ending… Alas, poor Globe.

Sinking & Floating Investigations

We are having lots of fun investigating why things sink or float in science lessons in Puffin Class. Here we are making predictions based on the objects’ shapes, sizes, mass and materials. We have been finding lots of surprises along the way! We are soon going to be investigating what happens if salt is added to the water… will it alter the results?

Dragonfly Sculpture

Puffin Class made a beautiful dragonfly out of recycled materials to feature in the 2009 Brundall Sculpture Trail. It is now back home in pride of place on the gazebo. It has stood up to all sorts of weather conditions and still looks fabulous..a testament to the craftsmanship of the pupils who made it!

Library Service Visit

Mandy from the Schools Library Service came to talk to us about special books. The children from Puffin Class loved sharing the books, particularly the one about The Titanic!

Sailing School
