French Exchange

The other day, Puffins and Swans exchanged teachers. Miss Peers taught sketchbook skills to the Y5 class, and Madame Sutton taught French to the Y2/3s. She arrived with Madame D’Orange and friends. Madame Sutton read the French version of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and taught basic phrases, colours and numbers. The Puffins had a fantastic time and want them all to pay another visit soon!

Year 5 have been learning about Britain since 1930 through The Beatles. 5S told the first part of their story and 5G finished it off.

Y5 Entrepreneurs

Some Y5 pupils have been extremely busy setting up a battle game card business. The original idea was to create a set of cards based on trading cards. The interest snowballed and soon a team of designers was generated who specialised in various aspects of marketing and production.

Jonathan, who came up with the initial idea for the NETZ cards, says that he found an empty packet and just for fun, made some random cards. He then showed his friend his basic designs. His friend liked the cards and began to show them off to others and the rest is history.

The team now have a collector’s sheet, rules, podium and ninety cards (sold in packs of three), which will be on sale from Monday 14th April. One of their advertising strategies was to produce a powerpoint presentation to the rest of the school. Click on the video below to see the NETZ presentation.

‘Mocktail’ Party

In literacy we have been looking at recount writing and the children had a go at writing a report for an unknown audience on the subject of our postponed ‘Mocktail party’!

Di Tye and Elise Clitheroe made a ‘Tiles And Tesserrae’ mosaic of the new school logo with the help of Y5 and Y6 pupils.

Dear children in France,

We are very excited to be writing to a French school and have lots of questions to ask you. First of all let us introduce ourselves:

Tia, James K, Molly, Jade, Emma, Aidan, Lewis, Seb, Jed, Katie M, Porsche, Andrew, Chloe, Jonathan, James H, Libby, William, Zakk, Oliver, Robert, Rhianna, Katie S, James L, Jordan, Adam, Harry, Charlotte, Lucy & Will.

This photo shows us during a special arts week – we will have a photo so you can see our faces!! As you can see we are a big class and we love learning French! So far we have learnt how to say our name, how we are and numbers. What can you say in English?

We are pupils of Brundall School, this is in Norwich which is in Norfolk. Where is your school?
