What is FOBS?

FOBS – stands for the ‘Friends of Brundall School’. It’s a charitable organisation and it’s been going for the past 40 years – ever since the school opened it’s doors for the first time.

FOBS has been raising funds so that the pupils of Brundall school can enjoy little extras and we help by improving their environment making Brundall school a happy place to be.

Last year together we raised over £7,000 – well done and thank you for your support.

We were able to fund a new canopy for the reception class’ outside area, and the new adventure playground for KS2. Our most recent purchase has been a new shed for the Gardening Club and some money towards some new books for the refurbished library.

As with a lot of associations, they go through changes as individuals and key players move on to new ventures – FOBS is no exception. We are in the process of change.

We’ve used the opportunity to think about the future of FOBS, to re-focus, and explore how we can promote our work and engage with the pupils, parents and carers of Brundall School.

I was appointed the Chair of FOBS two months ago – I’m very excited about being involved with such a fantastic association. It’s achievements over the years have been outstanding, maintaining this standard is a challenge. Thankfully I have a team of committee members who have proved themselves time and time again as a dedicated hard working team – I’m looking forward to working with them and encouraging new members to join us!

In the future we’d like to be more creative in our events, and maintaining some traditions like the annual summer fête and the fireworks display. Working together with the pupils council, the wider community and local businesses. We are mindful that in this day and age, money and resources are in short supply. To that end we are exploring ways to raise funds without having to put your hand in your pocket. Therefore you may see requests for recycling old clothes and mobile phones, or information of services/catalogues which will offer the school a percentage of orders taken.

To promote our fresh start in this new decade – we would like the pupils to design a logo to unite and identify us (see Junior FOBS for more details).

We are always on the look out for new members – we are a friendly bunch and have lots of fun organising the events. If your interested or would like to ask more then please get in touch – email brundallFOBS@googlemail.com. In fact any help would be much appreciated, we are trying to make it easier for you to be involved. We’re setting up a skills register, to utilise the skills out there – check out the skills register link.

Thank you again for supporting FOBS events in the past, I look forward to meeting you and working with you in the future. FOBS – keeping  Brundall Primary School extraordinary!

Best wishes
Siw Jones, Chair
