Nut Allergies
Dear Parents and Carers,
In reviewing Health Care Plans with our NHS nurse and parents today, we have been made aware of the need to strengthen our procedures about allergic reactions to nuts/peanuts and peanut butter. We have one child who faces a potentially life threatening reaction when exposed to peanuts/peanut butter, and others who have allergic reactions to nuts that also give us concern.
Therefore, we are asking that parents do not send nuts/peanuts or peanut butter in packed lunches. We have tried to manage the situation informally; however, this still leaves too much room for error and we are now asking for parents to help us by not sending these foods. Partly this is due to the age of the children in question, and partly this is due to the potential severity of reaction.
I hope all parents can cooperate with this new care plan. This is also a good time to remind all parents that we can meet with the NHS nurse to draw up a care plan if your child has particular health care needs.
