Go Camel!

The village of Brundall celebrated Christmas with a festival which grows bigger each year. This year, our school was invited to participate in the ‘Go Camel’ trail around the church hall and grounds by Reverend Linnet Smith who was inspired by the idea after the success of ‘Go Elephants!’ around Norwich during the summer.

Some of the members from the 2nd Brundall Cubs helped Puffin Class create a rag-rug camel, which was promptly named ‘Caramel’ as a result of her colouring. The cubs were very pleased with their efforts because it meant that they had completed enough artwork to justify gaining their art badges.

Puffin Class and 3/4TH also contributed to the camel trail by making tealight holders in the shape of camels. If you look closely at the photographs, you will see that they have been made cleverly out of recycled plastic milk bottles. The rest of the school were involved in making Christmas displays based on the camel theme. We had a caravan of camels, Picasso-style camels, Hump-phree, the joke-telling three humped camel, and even one that spoke Latin!

There were prizes for the smallest, largest, most characterful, most lifelike camels, etc… and even Linnet had a go, displaying great artistic flair with her ‘Camels of the Three Magi’. We even found a role for our headteacher… he had to pull Caramel all the way to the church. When we got there, there was a surprise awaiting us. The Press Photographer was waiting for us and we had articles published in the Evening News and BBC Norfolk!
