Our Trip to Kentwell Hall
Report by Becky, Richard and Will from Puffin Class
On the 22nd June 2009 we got ready for our trip to Kentwell Hall .We went to Lavenham at 11:00am. After we got back on the coach we went to Kentwell Hall. We had lunch. After we had lunch we went to get Tudor money then we went through an amazing time tunnel. We were in 1535 and we saw a gate keeper. He said “Shake all your Norwich fleas off “! Then he let us in. First we went to see a man called Blue and he was a Tudor soldier. He told us about the wars. He had done about 15 battles. He showed us his sharp weapons. Then we went to the minstrels who do a dance called the Farandole and you have to do it.
Next we went to the wood turner where he was making a wooden bowls and plates. Then we went to the moat and we fed the carp – you do not what to eat them because they eat sewage! We walked past the Tudor rose maze and then we went inside the giant house where we saw lots of Tudor people going about their daily lives. We went into a room where Jack stuck his head down the jakes (the toilet). We visited the ale house, bakery, dairy room, lotions and potions room, but best of all, we went in the camera obscura where we could see our friends waving to us as an image on the wall!
We went outside to the herb gardens, the ice house, the bee-keeper’s cottage and the alchemist’s. We tried the stocks, then it was time for another picnic before setting off home on a long journey. We thought the day was fantastic! We will give it five stars.
