Norfolk Week

In May, we celebrated living in Norfolk by having week-long activities entirely based around Norfolk history, geography and local traditions. We even learned some Norfolk dialect! Each class chose a Norfolk village, town or city to study, then we held our very own ‘Norfolk Show’ on the last day.

Parents and other members of the community came to the Norfolk Show to view all the arenas. At 10.30, the show commenced with the town crier announcing the ‘best song & dance competition’ in the central arena, then the adults went round all the arenas, judging the ‘Best in Show’. The categories were: Best song/dance, best sewn village sign, best sculpted village feature, best local menu, best miniature gardens, best Norfolk poem, best art, best museum and best kept village.

There were refreshment and flower marquees, a visit from Radio Norfolk and Isabelle brought Pippin the Shetland pony whoproved extremely popular with the crowds!

Penguin class represented Cromer, Robins represented Wymondham, Kingfishers – Ranworth, Kookaburras – Sheringham, 3S – Royal Sandringham, Puffins – Wells Next The Sea, 4TH – Norwich, 4M – Thetford, 5M – Cley, 5B – Blakeney, 6O – Great Yarmouth and 6M – Dereham.

The overall winner was Cromer, with joint runners-up Sheringham and Wells Next The Sea.
