Special Commonwealth Week
In May we held our ‘Special Commonwealth’ week. Pupils from each KS2 class were split up and sent to different commonwealth countries for the week, so we had Y3,Y4, Y5 & Y6 pupils all working together to explore their new country’s culture and history! Each country set up displays, made a meal fit for the Queen (our very own secretary, Mrs Musgrave) and provided entertainment as a way of persuading all the KS1 pupils to vote for their country. Lots of V.I.Ps visited the countries including the Queen’s consort and HRH Prince Charles (doesn’t he look just like our site manager, Mr Winter?).

The country with the most votes won the bid to host the Special Commonwealth Games at the end of the week. Cyprus just beat Kenya by one vote, followed closely by Canada. Other contenders included Trinidad & Tobago, New Zealand, St.Lucia, the Maldives and Australia. The games were held on the last day and gold, silver and bronze medals were presented at the podium for each event.
