One of my pupils once told me that she would love to learn to knit. Textiles plays an important part of the design technology curriculum, so I asked her to find out if anybody else was interested in forming a beginners’ knitting club. A long list of names came back! In desperation, I recruited Mrs Uttley, Mrs Smedley, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Thomas to pass on their expertise. The children chose the name ‘Knutty Knitters’ for their club, and within four weeks later some of the pupils were able to help others.
