Peacocks have been exploring what the world would look like if it was made up of 100 people, based on the book “If the World Were a Village” by David Smith. They have interpreted the data and produced visual representations based on the design work of Toby Ng. This has really brought alive some mind-boggling statistics and made accessible world politics, economics and cultural diversity.
The children have engaged in some really mature discussions and have been fascinated by what divides and unites people globally. They have also appreciated how fortunate they are compared to many others: one child commented when designing their poster stating that 7 people would have computers and 93 would not, “Well I’m really lucky because I have a computer.”
