Today Brundall School entered a team of swimmers for the Norwich East School Sport Gala. This took place at the pool in Thorpe High School where from Year 4 onward our children have lessons.
We were thrilled with the effort of all of those children who took part. Many talked to me about being nervous before they went and their pride in being selected to represent the school.
Here are some of their comments afterwards:
“It was fun because you got to cheer people along.”
“It was very exciting as everyone was supporting everyone”.
” It was my second time doing it so I was less nervous.”
“I liked it because of the good sportsmanship.”
“We had lots of adrenalin and that made it more exciting!”
“It was tough but everyone did so well and enjoyed it. We won four medals.”
Sport and exercise not only keeps us fit but teaches us so many lessons too. I was particularly proud of a child who nearly backed out because of feeling nervous . This was one of the biggest achievements of the day and the lesson we discussed afterwards was, ” Sometimes learning can be hard but we need to challenge ourselves and take every opportunity to find out who we really are”.
Congratulations to all of those who took part and Mrs Bell and Mrs Bromiley who supported the children at this competition.
We look forward to the Tag Rugby, netball and Quadkids Athletics competitions that are taking place later in the Spring term too.
