We were thrilled to award swimming certificates to our Year 4 children last week. The photograph shows the pride in these achievements for the  most improved swimmers.

Swimming is part of the P.E curriculum in Years 4, 5 and 6. The children are taken to Thorpe High School and the expectation is that they are able to swim at least 25m by the time they leave in the summer term in Year 6.

I was reminded of the importance of this life saving  skill when I recently met with friends from Holland. They informed me that lessons are compulsory from the age of 5 because of the risk of falling into the canals. In Norfolk we are surrounded by water and we do have the River Yare behind our school.  If you are thinking about starting a new club this year maybe consider this essential skill.

Swimming is a fun activity that all the family can do. It will help children to get their  daily 60 minutes exercise  and it will also keep you safe.

If you do not have any contacts there are some local clubs listed on our website.

Happy New Year,

Mrs Brown
