We aim to foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world, providing an opening to other cultures. It should provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to travel, study and work in other countries. Learning a language is a great opportunity for children to practise a growth mindset: language acquisition is not fixed, but can be developed through application and practice.
At Key Stage Two, the focus is on practical communication with an appropriate balance of spoken and written language.
We cover the National Curriculum objectives and follow the Index for Inclusion.
