Happy Diwali!

This week we have been learning about the fascinating festival of Diwali and thinking about how families celebrate in different ways throughout the year. So far, we have enjoyed decorating the home corner, making clay diva pots, listening to Indian music and learning new dance moves. We have also been dressing in traditional clothing and learning to perform the story of Sita and Rama.

This is part of our topic, “Lets Celebrate”, which helps children and their families to strengthen the positive impressions children have of their own cultures and faiths, and those of others, by sharing and celebrating a range of practices and special events in their community.

Role play in the home corner

This year we have really missed our usual visitors because of the current situation but look forward to welcoming you into our school community when it is safe to do so.

If you would like to share how your family celebrates please email the school office.

Stay safe, Nameste.
