Ofsted praised the Governing Body of Brundall Primary School at its last inspection stating: “The Governing Body has worked hard to build on its good work evident at the last inspection and currently it is providing the school with outstanding levels of challenge and support.”
The Governing Body has three key roles:
- To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent
Governors have statutory duties, and act in the role of critical friend to support and challenge the school to ensure that the best interests of all Brundall pupils are at the heart of decision-making.
The Governing Body’s role is strategic; it does not get involved with the day to day running and operational management of the school; responsibility for this is delegated to the Head-teacher.
